Applications of Microfat and Nanofat in Dermatology
Solutions For Dermatology Treatment
In dermatology, the application of microfat and nanofat represents a cutting-edge approach to address various skin concerns and promote skin health.
These advanced techniques involve:
1. Harvesting small amounts of the patient’s own adipose tissue or Adipose Tissue Complex (ATC) and standardizing the injectability of the tissue. This is microfat and is a natural filler and volumizer.
2. Sizing the microfat down to Tissue Stromal Vascular Fraction (tSVF) or nanofat. Nanofat is regenerative in nature (not volumizing) and can be injected intradermally with a needle as small as 30g.
Tulip has a long history of working with aesthetic dermatologists in the area of fat grafting. Through years of working with researchers and private practice physicians, Tulip Medical developed technology that simplified obtaining microfat and nanofat in an office-based environment.
Dermatologists harness the regenerative potential of this tSVF to enhance skin texture, stimulate collagen production, and improve overall skin quality.
Microfat and nanofat are employed in procedures such as facial rejuvenation, scar revision, and treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. These techniques are especially valuable for their ability to provide natural-looking results, improve skin vitality, and add the sought-after regenerative benefits patients are looking for. Dermatological applications of microfat and nanofat contribute to a comprehensive and minimally invasive approach to skin rejuvenation, allowing patients to achieve smoother, more youthful skin with reduced downtime.
As research and clinical experience with these technologies progress, their role in dermatology is likely to expand, offering novel solutions for a wide range of skin conditions and aesthetic concerns.
“The combination of microfat and nanofat is really beautiful and really takes your results to the next level. We use it for the under-eye area, acne scars, and under areas of discoloration such as sun damage, and even melasma.”

Understanding the Differences Between Microfat and Nanofat
Microfat and nanofat are adipose fat tissues that maintain the regenerative properties of native fat. Microfat can often be delivered through blunt needles or cannulas that range from 18g to as small as 25g in diameter, depending on the fibrosity of the patient’s fat. Microfat is injected subdermally and adds volume and structure to the recipient site.
Nanofat’s primary benefit is regeneration. Nanofat consists of a regenerative matrix, which is key to tissue repair and skin rejuvenation. It is usually injected intradermally but can also be applied topically. True Nanofat™, obtained with the Tulip system, is validated to be injectable with needles as small as 30g.
When you combine the two, you are using a powerful rejuvenating matrix that addresses two primary cosmetic concerns: volume loss and aging or scarred skin.
“Filler Fatigue” is a growing concern to aesthetic practices and patients. More patients than ever are looking for a more natural alternative to manufactured fillers. Since microfat and nanofat are obtained from the patient’s own fat, they are a natural and sustainable alternative that patients can opt for in a same-day, office-based procedure. In addition, younger patients can be free of the concerns associated with long-term use of fillers.

Tulip’s GOLD (Gentle Office-Based Lipoaspirate Delivery) kit provides everything you need to harvest and prepare microfat and nanofat for use in an office-based setting.
Using a closed syringe lipoaspiration system, our GOLD kits provide a less traumatic and more efficient approach to acquiring Adipose Tissue Complex (ATC) as a structural graft without surgery.
- The protocol and the kit have been clinically validated for safety, ease of use, viability, and consistent output, leading to more predictable outcomes.
- Tulip’s “Soft Harvest System” provides a safe and efficacious low-pressure acquisition of ATC.
- The harvested fat can be used as volumizing microfat (which is not sized down) or sized down into regenerative nanofat.
Profitability of Nanofat
With our GOLD kit, your patients achieve the rejuvenation they want, and you reap the financial benefits.
- The single-use Tulip GOLD kits allow you to avoid the time and expense of reprocessing and sterilizing instruments. You can schedule back-to-back, office-based appointments and know exactly what your cost for each treatment will be.
- With a low consumable cost, the Tulip GOLD kit provides a profitable way to increase your revenue while delivering superior patient results. Practices are seeing anywhere from an additional $500–$2,000 of revenue per physician hour, starting with their first patient.
Tulip GOLD Kits Provide These Advantages for Aesthetic Medicine
- Safe and easy-to-use closed adipose tissue harvesting and sizing
- Validated process resulting in consistently high concentrations of regenerative ATC and nanofat that is validated to be injectable with needles as small as 30g
- Increased patient safety by using their own tissue
- Setting your practice apart by adding the regenerative therapies patients are asking for
